Add Freeze Panes Command to the Excel Quick Access Toolbar

This is one instance where Google sheets has a much better method. Thanks for that. It's been 8 years since MS changed many features and added "ribbons" to Office and I still cannot get used to them.
Freeze First Column and Row in Excel
Fallback is to use splits. When a worksheet is split into different areas, each contains a separate view of the same worksheet, and changes made in one worksheet area will automatically appear in the other worksheet areas. You cannot have split panes and freeze panes at the same time, but you can switch between one and another depending on what you need at the time.
Either way, these tools can make it easier to work with spreadsheet data no matter where it is in the worksheet.

Or, to lock columns, select the column to the right of the column or columns you want to remain visible.
